Track Your Service Earnings
You can get to this part of the system by clicking on the Reports link in the blue Admin Toolbar and then clicking on the End of Day link below. We will also be looking at the Transaction Detail report in that menu.
Work Orders in the End of Day Report
You can view your revenues from Work Orders in the End of Day report, and of course, you can adjust the time period it covers to whatever you might need. In the example below, we have the reporting on our sample work order from the previous article. One benefit of the End of Day report is that it breaks out the different types of earnings, so we can clearly see our Product Sales and Service Sales. In our example, there is a 10% sales tax on material products, but no tax on service, so only the material products in the work order were taxed. The report also breaks down tender by till, and has a line item for each transaction during the reported period. You can click the transaction ID to view the details of the transaction.
Service Work in the Transaction Detail Report
The Transaction Detail report is one of the most versatile and useful reports in the system, and can be valuable in tracking your service work. You can use the filters at the top to show only the information you want, and you can look at whatever period you need. One useful way to filter it so you can see line items for all of your service sales is to keep the report in the Item View, and change the All Departments drop-down menu to Service. As you can see below, it is valuable to you to have your Costs entered for each of your service items as well as for your parts that you use in repairs. With no costs in the system, your reporting will show a 100% profit margin, which of course is not true. You can click on the transaction ID to see the full details of listed transactions.
If you change to the Department View (from Item View), you'll see all departmental sales listed and subtotaled for each department, with profit margins also listed. If you have not yet set up departments, we highly recommend doing so. You can do this from your Products > Departments menu.
