Website Members
You can access this part of the system from the blue Admin Toolbar on the top of your screen and clicking on the gear-shaped button on the far right. In the drop-menu, click Users.
Who Should Use This
You should be reading this:
- If you need to give someone access to view password-protected parts of your website, such as Wholesale information or club pages.
- If you need to reset the username or password of a site Member.
- If you need to set which pages in your website are password protected for members only.
Restricted Member Access
The Users window has an upper section for working with administrative/employee login accounts. The area for Website Members is below. Note: If you do not see this section on the Users page, it has not yet been authorized for you in the system. Website Member functionality is one of our Premium features and is available for our Plus service package ($79 per month) or higher. Please contact us at Billing at (877) 909-6699, option 3 if you need to activate this.
Member Accounts - This area will allow you to edit or create Website Member accounts. Members you create here will be able to log into your website and view password protected information that normal site visitors cannot. In this area, you can set usernames, passwords, and other account information for your Members.
Restricted Pages - This area will allow you to choose which pages on your website will be password protected for Members only. By default, any Wholesale information (Wholesale Price and Wholesale Description) you add for your products will be visible only to your website Members who have logged into the system.
Member Accounts
Click on Member Accounts to see a list of any Members currently in the system or to add new Members:
You can click on the New Member Account button to create a new Website Member account, or you can click on a Member's name to edit their account information, or to reset their password. The system will organize your Members alphanumerically as you enter them. You can delete a Member by clicking the red Delete button on the right side of the Member's title bar.
Creating a New Website Member
After clicking the New Member Account button, you will see a blank version of this:
The green field titles in this form denote required fields. The Username will need to be unique to be able to be saved in the system. It is recommended that you use the person's email address as a username, since that will always be unique and will be easy for them to remember. When initially creating the Member, set the Password to Changeme1!, and when they log in for the first time, they will be prompted to reset the password. For security reasons, the passwords Members choose will not be displayed in the Password field when you go in to view the information. You can always reset the password to a temporary one if someone forgets their login information.
Email and Phone Number are really for your reference, but can be useful if you have a lot of members with similar names. NOTE: Your Members are not automatically added to a mailing list, so you will need to manually do this under Marketing > Bulk. You can also create a mailing list just for your Website Members under Marketing > Email Lists.
Restricted Pages
You can set which pages in the website will require a Website Member login in order to view in this area. Here is an example:
Check only the pages that you wish to be password protected! If you have an informational page about your Wholesale Membership or about a Club on your site that has restricted content, if that information is for prospective Members, you will not want to check the box for it here. For example, let's say your Wholesale page is an informational page about the website's Wholesale Membership and is accessible to the public to attract prospective wholesale buyers. The Wholesale Sign In page and the Wholesale page for shopping that is in a drop-list under Store are password protected so that anyone going to those pages will first be prompted to log in before they are given access to the page.
Similarly, if you sell wholesale products through your site, you do not need to password protect your shopping pages! You will just want to provide a button or link in the header of the website so your members can sign in from anywhere, then as soon as they go to your online store, they will see the wholesale products. The only situation where you would want to password protect your shopping page would be if you do not sell anything at retail price for the general public.
After a Member has logged in on any page, they will be able to view all pages and content that are restricted to Member access.
When you have selected the pages that will need to be password protected, click the Save button at the bottom of the window.
